This is a quick post showing a U401 (#CGU401) driving 16 LEDs. 12 of the LEDs are available here from CircuitGizmos. The square LEDs that are amber colored are just some extras that I had on hand.
This hardware setup can be driven by the free output application that is available from USBmicro, or you can use C, VisualBasic, and other languages to connect to the U401/U421 and control it.
One exciting bit of news: I’m working with the authors of RobotBASIC for language support that makes interfacing to the U401/U421 really easy and inexpensive for everyone. RobotBASIC is a complete and easy-to-understand language based on BASIC. RobotBASIC not only allows for simulation of a robot on-screen, but can also interact and control hardware – the U401/U421 is very easy to control.
How easy? The preview version of RobotBASIC that I have can control the U401/U421 in only a few lines.
